Dear Chairman Rockefeller and Ranking Member Thune:

On behalf of the over 200 chief executive officers who are members of the Business Roundtable, I am pleased to support S. 1468, the Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act of 2013.

This bipartisan legislation, introduced by Senator Sherrod Brown and Senator Blunt, builds upon growing efforts around the country to expand advanced manufacturing by promoting partnerships between the private sector and public colleges and universities. Through these partnerships, true innovations stemming from basic research can be turned into products able to come to market at scale.

The potential impact of these efforts is significant, not only in the development of new products but also in creating the next generation of manufacturing jobs in this nation. Further, to ensure America has the workforce able to fill these opportunities the legislation appropriately includes a strong workforce-training component.

This legislation is good for business, good for our public institutions and most importantly, it is good for the American workers who will most benefit from a revitalized manufacturing base in this nation.

Again, the Business Roundtable is pleased to support S. 1468, and we look forward to working with Congress and the Administration to help see this legislation is enacted into law.

Sincerely,

John Engler
