House Passage of Information Sharing Legislation Critical to More Effective, More Intelligent Cybersecurity Protection

WashingtonBusiness Roundtable today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for passing critical cybersecurity information sharing legislation—H.R. 1731, the National Cybersecurity Protection Advancement Act of 2015 and H.R. 1560, the Protecting Cyber Networks Act.

“Growing cybersecurity threats are targeting both the public and private sectors, increasing risks to national security and the U.S. economy,” said Maggie Wilderotter, Executive Chairman of Frontier Communications Corporation, and Chair of the Business Roundtable Technology, Internet and Innovation Committee. “We commend the House for passing this legislation, which would establish a legal and privacy-protected foundation for government and businesses to strengthen cybersecurity detection and protection.”

“We now urge the Senate to take action, so that a final bill can be sent to President Obama’s desk as soon as possible,” Wilderotter said.

Business Roundtable released an economic growth agenda earlier this year that includes tax reform, expanded trade opportunities, immigration reform, fiscal stability and infrastructure investment.
