Business Roundtable Urges Passage of Bipartisan Keystone XL Pipeline Bill

Washington – In advance of tomorrow’s vote in the House of Representatives, Nicholas K. Akins, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Electric Power and Chair of the Business Roundtable Committee on Energy and Environment, encouraged passage of bipartisan, bicameral legislation to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline extension:

“America’s business leaders welcome bipartisan legislation introduced in both the House and the Senate to authorize construction of the Keystone pipeline as a strong signal that Republicans and Democrats can work together for the benefit of the American people. Business Roundtable has consistently supported approval of the Keystone project because it will create jobs and economic opportunity without harming the environment.

“We call on both chambers of Congress to swiftly pass this important legislation. We particularly urge President Obama to reconsider his position and sign this bipartisan measure that will create jobs and economic opportunity across a wide swath of the United States.”
