Business Roundtable Statement on Proposed Greenhouse Gas Regulations

WashingtonBusiness Roundtable today commented on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) proposal to regulate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from existing U.S. power plants.

“As CEOs who lead major American companies that operate in communities all across the United States and in every economic sector, we care deeply about both the health of the environment and the health of the economy,” said Dave Cote, Chairman and CEO of Honeywell and Vice Chair of Business Roundtable. “We look forward to working with the Administration on how best to achieve cost-effective greenhouse gas emissions reductions while continuing to support growth and job creation.”

In 2007, Business Roundtable called for action to address climate change, and in a report released last year, Taking Action on Energy: A CEO Vision for America’s Energy Future, the Roundtable laid out a comprehensive national energy strategy for the United States. The report included recommendations that would result in lower GHG emissions by improving energy efficiency and expanding renewable power production.

Earlier this year, Business Roundtable released its seventh annual sustainability report, Create, Grow, Sustain: Celebrating Success, which highlights the sustainability achievements of Business Roundtable member companies, including remarkable progress in reducing GHG emissions.
