BRT Chairman Doug Oberhelman

Business Roundtable member CEOs believe in the American economy. Our nation has powerful advantages, including a talented and creative workforce, tremendous natural resources and a culture of entrepreneurship. However, despite making solid progress since the end of the Great Recession, the U.S. economy continues to perform well below expectations. People are getting back to work, but we can create even more jobs. Consumer confidence is increasing, but we can do better. U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) is growing, but we can grow it even more. The economy lacks momentum.

In 2016, Business Roundtable will focus its efforts on greater job expansion and economic growth – national priorities that are inextricably linked. Informing our plan is our collective business experience as CEOs of America’s largest companies, experience that tells us what it takes to build momentum for the United States in in 2016 and beyond.
