Energy & Environment

Business Roundtable supports policies to ensure access to sustainable, reliable and affordable energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combatting climate change. Business Roundtable’s policy agenda would enable construction of new energy projects, incentivize private sector investment in clean energy technologies and advance America’s environmental goals.

Addressing Climate Change

Business Roundtable member companies are reducing their carbon footprints and developing technologies to help combat climate change because it is good for business, the environment and public health. Our CEOs believe the clean energy transition should be driven by the private sector with public sector support.

Permitting Reform

The current permitting process is a roadblock to new infrastructure projects, especially in the energy sector. Modernizing the permitting process would speed up the approval of new energy projects that balance today’s traditional energy needs with the growing demand for clean energy. Business Roundtable urges policymakers to pass bipartisan legislation reforming the permitting process for energy infrastructure projects.

A Roadmap for U.S. Energy Policy

Energy security is national security, and more actions are needed to reduce the risk of a global energy crisis and cascading economic impacts. In “A Roadmap for U.S. Energy Policy,” Business Roundtable outlines a series of policy recommendations to increase U.S. production and export of oil, natural gas and renewables; accelerate the clean energy transition; and reduce overall energy demand.
