The Springboard Project is an independent action-oriented commission that developed policy recommendations for a 21st century approach to equip Americans with the knowledge and skills needed for lifelong success in the U.S. workforce.

The Springboard Project was launched by Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs of leading U.S. companies, because it believes it is critical to find new approaches to address Americans' concerns about their employability as today's jobs disappear or become obsolete and tomorrow's jobs require higher levels of skills and education.

The Springboard Project was created to ask and answer a critical question: When our economy recovers, what new policies and programs must be in place to ensure that our current and future workforce - and nation - are prepared to compete in the coming years?

The commission's recommendations focused on how best to:

  • Provide easy access to timely and relevant information about the labor market and the kind of education and training required in today's and tomorrow's economy;
  • Raise awareness about the link between education and continued training and Americans' prosperity; and
  • Institutionalize lifelong learning as an individual and collective imperative.

The Springboard Project is comprised of a diverse and select group of leading thinkers including business executives, labor leaders, educators, social networking experts, government officials and foundation chiefs. The perspectives of this group will bring a new mindset to solving this urgent challenge.
