    Business Roundtable's president, John Engler, is scheduled to testify Tuesday, Sept. 13, at a hearing by the Senate Committee on Finance, Subcommittee on Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Growth, on the topic, "Examining Whether There is a Role for Tax Reform in Comprehensive Deficit Reduction and U.S. Fiscal Policy."

    When previewing tonight’s presidential address on jobs to the joint session of Congress, The Washington Post’s editors determined the political angle was the most important. Its front page story essays the big picture, “Obama, by pitching jobs plan before Congress, again turns to the Big Speech.” History suggests that’s a risky approach.

    White House sources have been previewing portions of the President’s jobs speech for reporters over the last day, which would normally diminish the impact of the actual address to Congress. Critics are already dismissing the President’s speech as the “same old” stuff. Maybe not.
