Senate HSGAC: Modernize Federal Permitting and Say ‘Yes’ to Jobs & Investment

America’s business leaders strongly endorse the Federal Permitting Improvement Act of 2015, S. 280,  introduced by Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO), which will be marked up Wednesday, May 6 in the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC).

S. 280 will:

  • Implement significant improvements to modernize the federal permitting process;
  • Require timelines for processing permit reviews and a designated lead agency for each project; and
  • Codify and expand the Administration's efforts to make the permitting process more transparent by establishing an online dashboard to track permit applications for most major infrastructure projects.

S. 280 will boost jobs and business investment by modernizing the federal permitting process.
