Business Roundtable Statement on Trade Votes

Washington – Tom Linebarger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cummins Inc. and Chair of the Business Roundtable International Engagement Committee, today released the following statement:

“We applaud the House for passing bipartisan TPA legislation to ensure the United States can negotiate the best possible trade agreements for our U.S. businesses, farmers and workers. Trade agreements are key to opening new markets for American-made goods and services, supporting well-paying U.S. jobs and delivering much-needed economic growth.

“Additionally, Business Roundtable has long supported Trade Adjustment Assistance, and we urge the House to resolve the current impasse so Trade Promotion Authority and Trade Adjustment Assistance can be signed into law.”

Enactment of bipartisan TPA legislation is a top priority for Business Roundtable. Business Roundtable founded and leads the U.S. business and agricultural community’s Trade Benefits America Coalition, which educates on the benefits of trade and U.S. trade agreements and advocates for passage of modernized TPA legislation.
