Business Roundtable Statement on Senate Budget Resolution Debate and Tax Reform

Washington – Business Roundtable today issued the following statement as the United States Senate begins debate on a FY 2018 budget resolution with reconciliation instructions on tax reform:

“A vote for this budget resolution is a vote for pro-growth tax reform,” said Joshua Bolten, President & CEO of Business Roundtable. “Senators must quickly approve this budget and come to an agreement with the House on reconciliation instructions allowing Congress to move forward on tax reform. Americans looking for work opportunities, as well as workers looking for more take-home pay, are depending it.”

“Passing this budget resolution is a necessary prerequisite to consider tax reform that will increase economic growth, help create jobs, and lead to rising wages,” said Mark A. Weinberger, Global Chairman and CEO of EY and Chair of the Business Roundtable Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee. “Congress must act now to pass tax reform that includes competitive tax rates and a modern international tax system for businesses.”
