Business Roundtable Statement on the Third Part of Senator Hillary Clinton's Health Care Plan

"Senator Clinton, like many of the presidential candidates, has advanced the national health care conversation with the announcement of her plan to deliver affordable, quality health insurance to all Americans," said John J. Castellani, president of Business Roundtable. "We share her goal of all Americans having access to coverage. We will carefully review her plan to ensure that it 'does no harm' to our many employees who have private health insurance coverage and that no American who currently has health insurance would lose it. As we further evaluate the details of her plan, we look forward to hearing from the other candidates and continuing this important dialogue.

"Most Americans get their health insurance through the workplace. As providers of health care coverage for 35 million Americans, our members support private coverage and are at the forefront of positive change, constantly innovating to add value to the employer-based health care system. We believe that there must be a shared responsibility among payers and providers to reduce health care costs and expand access -- there is a role for the government, for employers and for consumers of health care services. Ensuring value and efficacy in health care is critical to ensuring that American workers and businesses remain competitive in an evolving global economy."
