Business Roundtable President John Engler issued the following statement today following the Senate’s failure to advance legislation to approve the Keystone XL pipeline extension:
“We are disappointed that the Senate was unable to find the 60 votes needed to bring the Keystone XL pipeline legislation to a vote. There is a bipartisan majority in the Senate to approve this pipeline, so we are hopeful it can be passed as soon as possible. America’s business leaders strongly support this environmentally responsible infrastructure project because it will deliver up to 830,000 barrels a day of new North American oil supplies to U.S. Gulf Coast refineries and create thousands of new U.S. jobs. Building the Keystone pipeline is in America’s national interest, and we urge Congress and the President to approve it without unnecessary delay.”
