BRT: Immigration Reform Standards Keep the Ball Moving

Business Leaders Urge Bipartisan House Action to Advance U.S. Growth, Job Creation and Competitiveness

WashingtonBusiness Roundtable, representing CEOs of leading U.S. companies from every sector of the economy, today applauded the release of House Republican immigration reform standards, calling them a positive step forward on the path to fixing America’s broken immigration system.

“We applaud House Republicans for their public commitment to immigration reform demonstrated by the release of their standards today,” said Greg Brown, Chairman & CEO of Motorola Solutions, Inc., and Chair of Business Roundtable’s Select Committee on Immigration. “Coming just days after the President’s State of the Union message, this document confirms a bipartisan willingness to fix America’s broken immigration system this year.”

Business Roundtable has outlined realistic immigration solutions that will accelerate growth, encourage hiring, and create jobs with reforms that include improving security and enforcing immigration laws; welcoming legal immigrant workers to contribute to America; and finding a solution for undocumented immigrants, including a pathway to earn legal status.

“America has long benefitted from the energy and entrepreneurship of immigrants,” added Brown. “They continue to create American jobs and drive robust economic growth. Balanced, sensible immigration reform must be a priority for our nation’s leaders. It is a critical component of Business Roundtable’s 2014 four-point growth agenda, and we will continue to press for action this year.”
