America’s Business Leaders Welcome Progress in TPP Negotiations

WashingtonBusiness Roundtable today released the following statement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations:

We are encouraged by the progress made during this round of TPP negotiations, and we urge negotiators to continue working together to achieve a comprehensive and high-quality agreement as soon as possible,” said Tom Linebarger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cummins Inc. and Chair of the Business Roundtable International Engagement Committee. “This trade agreement will remove trade barriers and expand market access between the United States and 11 important countries, increasing economic growth and jobs across America.”

In 2013, U.S. trade with the TPP countries supported 15.3 million American jobs, and 44 percent of U.S. goods exports were bound for these 11 countries.

U.S. trade expansion, including through trade agreements, is a key pillar of the Business Roundtable pro-growth policy agenda, Achieving America’s Full Potential: More Work, Greater Investment, Unlimited Opportunity.
