America’s Business Leaders Detail Companies’ Commitment to Sustainability

Leading CEOs Highlight Efforts to Protect Environment, Improve Quality of Life

Washington – Business Roundtable today released Create, Grow, Sustain: Leading by Example – testimonials from America’s top CEOs detailing how their companies are leading the way on effective environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices. The report and accompanying video testimonials show how America’s business leaders pursue innovative strategies to create jobs, grow the U.S. economy, and sustain and enhance the quality of life in America and around the world.

“Business leaders are putting environmental stewardship and innovation at the heart of our companies’ operations,” said Nicholas K. Akins, Chairman, President and CEO of American Electric Power, Chair of The Business Roundtable Committee on Energy and Environment. “This report documents how an emphasis on sustainability helps day-to-day operations, but also serves the long-term future of our companies and the communities we live and work in.”

The Roundtable annual sustainability report, now in its eighth year, reaffirms the business community’s commitment to addressing environmental and energy challenges – while driving increased economic growth and job creation. The 148 CEOs who participated this year share their own stories on how their companies are making a difference on issues ranging from water conservation to recycling and more efficient energy use. Business Roundtable released an economic growth agenda earlier this year that includes tax reform, expanded trade opportunities, immigration reform, fiscal stability and infrastructure investment.
