Partnership for Disaster Response
Business Roundtable’s Partnership for Disaster Response was the first clearinghouse of information on disaster preparedness and response for the business community. It brought together business leaders, NGOs and governments in advance of, and in immediate response to, disasters to quickly provide aid to survivors and affected communities.
Following the devastating tsunami in Asia in 2004, Business Roundtable CEOs launched an effort to coordinate private sector response to natural disasters, the Partnership for Disaster Response. During the last five years, through events including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, wildfires in California, floods in the U.S. Midwest, and earthquakes in China and Haiti, the Partnership has worked to foster public-private collaboration to prepare for the health, social and economic burdens that disasters can create and to ensure that the business community’s response efforts address the most critical needs and mobilize the unique technologies and resources of companies.
While the Partnership was most active between 2004 and 2010, Business Roundtable remains a resource and advocate for cross-sector preparedness, response and recovery following disaster.
