Senior Vice President, Business Roundtable

Tita Thompson Freeman is Senior Vice President for Business Roundtable, responsible for the external positioning and overall communications strategy for the association of chief executive officers of leading U.S. corporations.

With over fifteen years of experience managing communications campaigns surrounding major policy issues that impact business and the economy, Freeman joined the Roundtable in March 2012 after serving for ten months as Senior Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs, at the National Retail Federation, the world’s largest retail industry trade association.

Freeman was previously Vice President of Communications and Strategy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she oversaw media relations, marketing and advertising, internal communications, new media, and online communications. Her work was instrumental to one of the most significant campaigns in the Chamber’s history – the Campaign for Free Enterprise – which promotes the benefits of free enterprise to job creation and American democracy. Before joining the Chamber, Freeman spearheaded all outreach to business groups, interest groups and associations as a full-time consultant to Google’s Washington, DC operation.

This is Freeman’s second stint at Business Roundtable, as she previously served as director of communications from 2002 to 2007. In that role she led communications campaigns on key business issues including trade, health care, fiscal policy, and the environment, and played an instrumental role in garnering credibility for the Roundtable’s CEO Economic Outlook Survey. Freeman began her career with APCO Worldwide, a global public affairs firm, and also worked at LexisNexis and Teligent.

In 2012, Freeman was named one of Association TRENDS Young & Aspiring Association Professionals, and in 2009 designated by PRWeek magazine as one of “40 Under 40” – one of the top Communications practitioners in the country under the age of 40.

Freeman is the founder of the “DC Communicators Group,” a networking forum for top trade association and corporate communications professionals in Washington, DC. A native of Massachusetts, Freeman graduated cum laude from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. She resides in Arlington, Virginia, with her husband, Geoff, and their two children.
