John J. Engel was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors on May 25, 2011, and has been President and Chief Executive Officer of WESCO International, Inc., since September 2009. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Engel served as WESCO’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2004 to September 2009. From 2003 to 2004, Mr. Engel served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Gateway, Inc. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Engel served as an Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President of Perkin Elmer, Inc. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Engel served as Vice President and General Manager of AlliedSignal and previously held various engineering, manufacturing and general management positions at General Electric from 1985 to 1994. In addition, Mr. Engel serves as a Director of United States Steel Corporation. Mr. Engel is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), a member of the Board of Directors of the Allegheny Conference, and is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI). Mr. Engel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rochester. Mr. Engel is married with three children and resides in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania.
