Marian Hopkins is Senior Vice President for Policy at Business Roundtable (BRT), where she is responsible for setting strategy on and executing BRT’s overall public policy agenda. She brings a wealth of policy experience and a proven track record of success to the task of ensuring BRT is always advancing the goals of its CEO members in the most effective way possible.
Most recently she managed the development and rollout of BRT’s 2013 CEO policy agenda, It’s Time to Act for America’s Future (February 2013), which represents the best thinking of America’s business leaders on how to encourage business investment, accelerate economic growth and create more U.S. jobs.
Ms. Hopkins also manages policy development and advocacy for BRT’s energy and environment efforts. She directly manages the Energy and Environment Committee. In her career at BRT, she has had direct responsibility for the policy development and advocacy on tort reform, labor law, regulatory reform, and information technology – including cybersecurity and homeland security.
Ms. Hopkins also shapes major BRT publications, including its 2013 sustainability report, Create, Grow, Sustain, and several landmark publications on national energy policy, including, Taking Action on Energy, BRT’s comprehensive energy policy statement.
Prior to joining Business Roundtable, Ms. Hopkins was the Director, Senate Liaison for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce where she developed comprehensive short and long term lobbying strategies on major issues of importance to the members of the Chamber. She also served as a Legislative Assistant for U.S. Senator S. I. Hayakawa (R-CA). Ms. Hopkins has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Irvine.
