Philippe Dauman was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Viacom Inc. in September 2006 and has served on the Company’s Board of Directors since 1987. Viacom, consisting of BET Networks, MTV Networks and Paramount Pictures, is the world’s leading entertainment content company. It engages audiences on television, motion picture and digital platforms through many of the world’s best known entertainment brands, including MTV, VH1, CMT, Logo, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, Noggin, COMEDY CENTRAL, Spike TV, TV Land, BET, Rock Band, AddictingGames, Atom, Neopets, Shockwave and Paramount Pictures. Viacom’s global reach includes approximately 170 channels and 400 online properties in 163 countries and territories.
Previously, Mr. Dauman was Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DND Capital Partners, L.L.C., a private equity firm specializing in media and telecommunications investments, from May 2000 until September 2006. Prior to co-founding DND Capital Partners, Mr. Dauman served in several positions at Viacom, including as a Deputy Chairman and Executive Vice President of Viacom Inc.
Mr. Dauman is a director of National Amusements, Inc. and Lafarge S.A., a world leader in building materials. He is also a member of the Business Roundtable and serves on the Board of Trustees for The Paley Center for Media and the Dean’s Council of Columbia University Law School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale College in 1974 and his law degree from Columbia University Law School in 1978.
