In addition to his leadership at National Gypsum Company, Nelson is active in the Charlotte community, serving on several civic boards. He will chair the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce next year. Nelson also recently received honors from the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Policy Advisory Board. Harvard University President Derek Bok praised him for his leadership of this board. A Harvard alumnus, Nelson served as board chairperson for the past two years. Board membership includes leading companies in the residential construction and building products industry.
